1198006 2011-04-30 23:07:00 $2 shops have been around for a number of years now and it is wonder that inflation has not forced them to up their prices. A friend bought a telephone cord for $2 to connect her modem to her computer. The cheapest one I could find at Dick Smith's was $12.99. You get what you pay for. Bobh (5192)

DSE would have paid 25c for it.

When I had my shop I could buy single cables for under $2 that DSE were selling for $20.

Motorcyclists need to be weary of this crap, The chinese make full leather riding suits out of it, Then when a rider falls off it just burns off rather then offering any protection.

1198011 2011-05-01 04:24:00 $2 shops are for little kids' parties and those who still believe in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.

You get exactly what you pay for, and if it lasts until you get outside the shop, count yourself lucky. Durability, reliability and warranty are not on the specification list.

Cheers

In Singapore i bought stationery from Daiso which has everything for $2 (the NZ one has stuff for $3, go figure...). Everything functions perfectly, barring one highlighter pen. Getting a pack of 10 pens for $2 is a sweet deal.

Cheap doesn't mean bad, funny thing is my new watch came with a really cheap leather strap, that is more comfortable than a aftermarket strap that i have on my other watch.

So, 10% of your pens were faulty from the get-go then? I have a sets of highlighter pens that I've been using for well over 10 years, and they were neither expensive, nor dirt cheap. I'll lay odds that a $2 shop pen set will not last anything like as long as that. :D

1198015 2011-05-01 14:28:00 As cheap as $2 sounds, I think you'll find a lot of the items for sale in $2 are actually a ripoff, especially when you take into account the quality (or lack of it)

Really want to save money? Go buy something decent, you'll save money in not having to purchase it 20 times over every time it breaks.
