1199383 2011-05-04 12:09:00 I'm wanting to expand the capacity of my laptop battery pack.

What I intend to do is add extra 18650 lithium cells (or maybe other sized lithium cells) in parallel (which is safe in its own right, providing the cells are at the same voltage when initially connected) with the existing cells.

I've noticed that in laptop batteries they have "taps" coming off at each series connection, which lead to the control circuit board inside the battery

My question is, will changing the capacity of a certain individual cell block in the series of cells (ie adding a cell in parallel to an existing one) muck up the battery (ie other cells in series overcharge and blow up), or will the control electroncis charge each cell block in the series to its own correct voltage?

(It's not exactly new so I'm not fussed if I break anything in the process)
