2011-05-04 20:56:00 | Good on you for donating SWmBO does it but I'm not allowed as I lived in England during the 90's so they won't take my blood encase I carry CJD | gary67 (56) | |
2011-05-04 22:04:00 | Just make sure the people taking it aren't wearing long black capes, don't have two long front teeth, and don't want to take it from your lily-white neck. Otherwise you'll be fine. :devil

2011-05-04 22:28:00 | Well, I've put my hand up to donate blood tomorrow and I'm absolutely crapping myself. Relax, there's no known link between donating blood and incontinence. Good on you for donating.

2011-05-05 00:06:00 | Well it's all done and it went brilliantly. The whole thing didn't hurt at all! The nurses face lit up when she saw me walk in the door :D Apparently a 193cm, 105kg person covered in athletics bars is exactly what they are looking for! I'll be back next time for sure! :pf1mobmini:

2011-05-05 00:19:00 | Excellent - well done. Just take it easy for the rest of the day. I can't do it any more - they changed the rules, so I am not allowed to donate now because of my allergy to Tetracycline antibiotics. I am not a particularly desirable donor anyway because I am blood group B Rh-. They prefer to have universal blood donors. My daughters can't donate either for the same reason as gary67.

2011-05-05 01:59:00 | Good on you for donating SWmBO does it but I'm not allowed as I lived in England during the 90's so they won't take my blood encase I carry CJD Ditto - I started donating blood when I was at school and donated regularly until I went to the UK in the early eighties. When I came back they took my blood for a wee while and then changed the rules because of CJD. I have huge doubts that anyone who ate beef in the UK in the specified time frame is a CJD carrier (there would have been evidence by now) and I would start donating again in an instant if they came to their senses - the holes in my brain are alcohol-related, not Mad Cow Disease! :D I'm "A Rh+", IIRC.... Well done, darkstar09 - only a very small percentage of the population gives blood and there's always a huge need for it. You have reason to be proud of yourself!
