| 1198884 | 2011-05-03 21:11:00 | @Ulsterman I do like UK comedy, but really Summer Wine must be one of the weakest comedy shows ever made. I'd rather watch Toni Street than Summer Wine anyday. (Now Fawlty Towers, Yes Minister, Fools and Horses and it would be a toss up) I have not seen Engineered as I can't get tvnz 7. |

| 1198888 | 2011-05-04 02:03:00 | One thing about American comedy is that you at least know when you are supposed to laugh. They insert laughter sound effects when they think it is funny. With British comedy you laugh on your own accord when it is funny. |

(snip) My wife's Yorkshire cousins took us to the village where they filmed that series, and we saw a number of the actors coming off the set for lunch. Pearl even smiled at me as she walked past - I didn't know she could do that (difficult to separate the actor from her character when she was all dressed up as Pearl!). We had a cuppa and a bun in the cafe (they weren't using it any more as a set, but it was still set up as you see it in the series). Spooky. |
