I do like UK comedy, but really Summer Wine must be one of the weakest comedy shows ever made.

I'd rather watch Toni Street than Summer Wine anyday.
(Now Fawlty Towers, Yes Minister, Fools and Horses and it would be a toss up)

I have not seen Engineered as I can't get tvnz 7.

1198885 2011-05-03 22:46:00 "Red Dwarf", "Open All Hours" and "Allo, Allo" were also very good shows.

Love the pommie humour. Never watch the Yanks so-called humour. They do not know how to make a comedy show.

1198888 2011-05-04 02:03:00 One thing about American comedy is that you at least know when you are supposed to laugh. They insert laughter sound effects when they think it is funny.

With British comedy you laugh on your own accord when it is funny.

That was definitely one of the best.

The father of the gorgeous Kate Beckinsale was in Porridge. Sadly he died far too young.

One of my favourites, from a bygone era, is "Last of the Summer Wine." (snip)

My wife's Yorkshire cousins took us to the village where they filmed that series, and we saw a number of the actors coming off the set for lunch. Pearl even smiled at me as she walked past - I didn't know she could do that (difficult to separate the actor from her character when she was all dressed up as Pearl!).

We had a cuppa and a bun in the cafe (they weren't using it any more as a set, but it was still set up as you see it in the series). Spooky.
