| 1199362 | 2011-05-04 12:02:00 | Has anyone noticed a change in the way google ranks their search results? It seems in the last few months that things have changes a bit I'm always having to rejig the search terms, go to the 2nd page, etc... to get what I want The results seem to include and prioritise more user created content, or something... (blogs/forums/product reviews...?) Sometimes this is kind of frustrating if that's not what you're looking for Am I just dreaming, or has anyone else noticed changes too? |

| 1199364 | 2011-05-04 23:52:00 | Google rolled out two massive "farmer/panda" updates where many content farms and shopping sites were buried in search results, due to insufficient relevant content, high ad/content ratio, or duplicated thin supplier content, etc (for shopping sites). Some sites lost up to 80% ranking. Some also lost ranking due to manipulative link practices, that was publicized recently (in the USA). Tons of articles have described the effects such as who lost (searchengineland.com), and Google speaks out, (searchengineland.com) and what to do. (searchengineland.com) You are right - user based content did benefit, as some of my sites/blogs suddenly raised to page 1 for certain search terms, after the update. |
