1199320 2011-05-04 09:37:00 Well, I've put my hand up to donate blood tomorrow and I'm absolutely crapping myself. Firstly, does it hurt? And what should I do to prepare myself?

Cheers

1199322 2011-05-04 09:40:00 Just relax. The whole procedure is painless and the people doing it are experts. You will be fine. Incidently well done :) CliveM (6007)

1199324 2011-05-04 10:01:00 Good on you, darkstar09.
It doesn't really hurt, I just found it was better to relax and not look at the procedure.
As has been mentioned, the cuppa and bikkies are welcome.

1199325 2011-05-04 10:02:00 I always feel bad for not doing it, but the last time I had even a small amount of blood drawn I fainted :p lagbort (5041)

1199327 2011-05-04 10:08:00 I just had a look at my card. 32 previous donations. I'm not allowed to do it anymore as I've passed the age limit. Snorkbox (15764)
1199328 2011-05-04 10:12:00 When ever I've donated, hardly even felt the needle. First time I ever went, they had TV on, I was watching something, next thing I knew she was saying just squeeze the rubber ball slowly - eh! -- Didn't feel a thing.

The people doing it are usually very good ( we went to the hospital donation clinic ), it actually hurts more pulling off the sticky plaster they put on awards then the actual procedure. ;)
