1200334 2011-05-09 04:38:00 Android phones usually ship either with Google Maps, or nothing. If you want something else, you'll need to install it. There are plenty of GPS apps available on the market - I've heard good things about CoPilot in particular, although I've never used it.

Just had a look at CoPilot on the Android Market.
Maps are priced per region and the USA/Asia is not covered.

That's the main reason why I try to stick with Nokia.

Does Google offer offline maps with POIs included?

1200336 2011-05-09 06:47:00 Thanks, will ask around at the stores maybe .

The apps out there seems to be a minefield . I've seen some of the the free maps but they are not adequate . Just want to pick something that just works after installing and works with all continents and not need to research on another app and learn about something new before every trip and if they do charge a handsome amount of dough for it, it makes commercial maps appealing by just using my (hiking) Garmin .
