A former city councillor Crimp is a colourful character who outrages readers of the Southland Times by writing letters to the editor about "the looting of New Zealand by Maori," and his fellow townsfolk by fighting development battles with the city council. High-profile Invercargill businessman Louis Crimp said he thought he was going to die when he crashed his $124,000 Jaguar this week. That may sound simple enough, but the land we needed to build the dam on was owned by Louis Crimp who at that time had launched several lawsuits against the City Council over a whole range of issues. As we all know, Louis can be as stubborn as a mule at Gallipoli but after appealing to his patriotism and sense of loyalty to Invercargill, a compromise was reached and construction of the dam could proceed. |
