As far as I know monitors don't have USB ports; well, some do, but they are only act like extension leads .

And does HDMI output power? I don't know about my monitor, but I'd doubt so . If this is how these computers get power does it mean they'll need special monitors? Doesn't sound much of a good strategy to me . . .

But it's still a handy little product; might even replace HTPC's eventually .

That depends, TVs have usb ports on them now, and my parents screen has a usb hub in the side that is not connected to the pc but gets its power from the screen .
Really good for the novelty USB items you can get now .

What? Of course you have to power the screen . Did you expect the tiny little usb stick sized device to power the screen as well?

It does say plug into tv, I have usb port in a tv in my camper the kids use it to play music .
