1227931 2011-09-01 00:56:00 This is going to seem like a really stoooopid question, but if "Computer" on a Win 7 machine is showing D: as "CD Drive", that means it is only a CD Drive and won't play DVD's ........:illogical right? tuiruru (12277)
1227932 2011-09-01 01:07:00 Right.

Thanks Trev - I just need something in writing fo a "non-beleiver".

"But it's got Windows 7 on it. It has to be able to play DVDs!!" (Then jumps up and down)

I've never really burrowed around in Win 7. Where do I go/how do I get a Vista/XP tree sort of look for all the system hardware?

Edit: Don't worry - found it!! :thanks

1227934 2011-09-01 01:33:00 Go to device manager under the cd/dvd. Write down what it says, Do a search in google, see what it is / supports. Or put a DVD in it, it'll either play it or it wont Speedy Gonzales (78)
1227935 2011-09-01 02:36:00 WHen I open My Computer in Windows 7 it says I have a DVD RW Drive and the icon is a DVD icon for the drive.

I've got a Windows 7 PC here that can't play DVDs (because the DVD drive failed :p).

1227937 2011-09-01 05:18:00 Sorry guys - got held up........

It's definitely a CD drive. Somebody just needed convincing. After all, people you've never met and know nothing about are always more trustworthy and believable than someone you've known for years (Scamming 101).......right? :banana
