| 1229687 | 2011-09-08 09:59:00 | Hi I opened a *.doc file from a email(office outlook). forgot i didn't save it and started typing in it. just like always i saved it (ctrl+s) and shut the file. now because i didnt file-save as earlier i dont know where in temp its saved. i tried to search in %temp%. no luck. |

| 1229689 | 2011-09-08 10:17:00 | I have done the same thing and normally use ZTree to find it, but a few days ago mikebartnz recommended WinGrep and it looks useful. It may not have a .doc suffix when you find it, so search by filename.* Renaming to .doc usually works ok once you have found it and copied to a safe place, either that or copy and paste the content into a word template. The original should still be attached to the email so perhaps you could start again................ Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 1229692 | 2011-09-08 12:05:00 | This may or may not help but my word temp files are in below path. For the ones that end in .tmp, I just select to open with word. (You also have to work out which one you want as no name there Theres also word autorecovery files in there too. And probably elsewhere another temp word folder. :\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word |

Description: Temp folder for Outlook attachments Location: C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\<random value>\ Why you care: Here is were Outlook 2007 sometimes puts attachments you directly open from an email. If you are trying to find the exact location of this folder, look in the reg key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\O utlook\Security Entry by: Irongeek. It was interesting to know, although file name was intact incl its extension search didnt pick it up. heck none of these programs worked either. |
