1228835 2011-09-04 23:43:00 hello folks,

oops heading should read
"VHS to DVD conversion"

My ageing mother has asked me to convert a VHS video to DVD.
Is there an easy way of doing this with my home computer?
Or can anyone recommed a professional service here in Auckland?

cheers*

1228836 2011-09-04 23:46:00 You can do it yourself, but you'll need some kind of video capture card, (it maybe external as well), and a program to record the video/audio in signal. Then you can burn it to DVD Speedy Gonzales (78)

is there anything special to consider seeing as how the VHS signal is analogue?

1228838 2011-09-04 23:54:00 Any hardware designed for this will take care of it all.

If it's just one VHS I'd look for someone else to do it, no help there sorry, but if you want to do a bunch invest in some hardware. Something like this.

1228839 2011-09-04 23:58:00 If you get something external, it would look like this (www.ifocus.co.nz erface+-+Retail.html). Looks like the forum is starting to play up.. Speedy Gonzales (78)

1228841 2011-09-05 00:57:00 You can always buy a DVD/Hardrive recorder and do it that way. Just connect up your video recorder to it then record to the hd then burn to a DVD.

1228843 2011-09-05 03:28:00 I HAD a tuner that had S-video (I could record from VCR / whatever). Until

1. The VCR died lol

2. I changed from 32 to 64 bit. That was the end of the tuner

1228844 2011-09-05 04:05:00 hoanikai,

a commercial conversion can cost you an arm and a leg :(

all you need is a VHS player, a capture card and a DVD burner - with some shareware programmes as well :)

if you reside in the Wellington region and need a hand, drop me a PM
