| 1201984 | 2011-05-14 04:33:00 | I don't think I've ever had notice of anything decreasing in price before, but I had a letter from SkyTV and they are DECREASING the amount I pay each month by $1.16 from June. Something to do with them moving ESPN over to the Sports channel. Now if we could just get such a letter from our ISP, our power company and our Council to that effect, it would be nice. LL |

| 1201990 | 2011-05-14 06:35:00 | Fine if you were never an ESPN viewer. But if you want ESPN you now have to buy the whole SPORTS package ($30 extra?). It's a bit like power company telling you they're going to switch off your electricity between 11pm and 2am and give you a 5% discount. Fine if you always get to bed before 11pm! How does anyone estimate the value of a part of a service which has not previously been priced in separate units? |

What they do is work out that they can add it to another package, then work out the point where most people will say "Hell no I'm not paying that much!" and charge just under that. |

I think a hell of a lot of companies set their prices that way. CD's? Cinema tickets? Petrol? Milk? MS Office? Tweak the prices up as high as you can without creating a storm of objection from the public at large. |

If you add up the monthly costs of Sky tv, phone/s and Internet it must be quite a sizable portion of household expenditure. |
