1201891 2011-05-13 13:14:00 Wasn't Oracle talking about giving OpenOffice back to the community? It would be great to keep the OpenOffice name
Who really cares now. Oracle had it's chance and blew it. LibreOffice is fine as far as I'm concerned.

No, it was the other way round.

The community and the OpenOffice board asked Oracle for the name, Oracle declined and forced the board to resign.

1201893 2011-05-14 00:25:00 Just had an "adventure" with office 2007.

Had to call MS to activate it manually, bloody hell talk about a mission, I think I would have gotten more sense talking to my dog :D

She asked the usual questions, to which I replied, she then asked why it was being reinstalled -- Errrrrrrr, just explained that the HDD had a total failure and all Programs, OS etc were being reinstalled back on the same PC.

Ended up having to tell her three times why it was being reinstalled -- they obviously dont listen - I felt like saying "I've already told you three ****** times" - MS, get some help desk people that understand English. :groan:

All it takes is one mission like that to make LibreOffice very attractive to someone, so in the end they will probably do more harm than good by activation because it doesn't really stop the real pirates.
Have you taught your dog to sing yet?

1201898 2011-05-14 02:30:00 Have you taught your dog to sing yet? not quite, but she goes absolutely ape sh1t when the couriers turn up, it not so much a bark, more of a howl, and she can give anyone a good contest when it comes to snoring :sleep

One thing that MS Office is doing is integrating towards cloud computing, syncing with mobile Apps / devices etc.
Sure theres Goggle docs etc, but (and I'm Asking cause I dont know) does LibreOffice currently have options for cloud computing ?

Not sure as I am really not interested in the cloud but will do some investigating.

LibreOffice has just released a version for portable apps which I gather works within the cloud.
