1201313 2011-05-11 22:51:00 Nowhere did I see anything to indicate what was actually in these leaflets so there's no way I can Judge how bad they were or whether anybody should be charged for anything.

Did you guys all manage to read them?

Racism is obviously wrong and the domain of the stupid and ignorant, Judging people without seeing the evidence is much the same.

1201314 2011-05-11 22:52:00 In NZ, the right to expression basically means you can say or do almost anything provided it's not inciting racial violence.

You can say "I don't like XYZ" or something to that effect, provided you're not actually calling for all of XYZ to be killed, you're pretty much fine. End of the day, sure they're leaflets, but just ignore the buggers like you do all other junk mail. People don't *have* to go along with whatever said leaflet is telling them to do. Ignoring it, literally, is the easiest and best thing to do, simply because people are allowed to express themselves.

1201316 2011-05-11 23:22:00 If it was against the law someone saying White mfos would surely break it.
Since the race relations conciliator didnt prosecute it has set a precedent I guess.
Dropping off leaflets the same, the race relations commission is now a lame duck.
Harawira's racist comment was confined to a private email, and unless he was plotting a terrorism act against white people then they can't prosecute him for calling white people mofos over a private email.

If he said it the same way these skinheads are spreading their hate, then he'll probably get the same treatment.

Besides, he got a lot of crap for it, doesn't that tell you something? I certainly thought he was a downright moron for saying something like that.

1201317 2011-05-11 23:40:00 Yes but Hone is in a position of power, he's supposed to be a public figure who leads by example (Should, but doesn't).

The people who dropped off these leaflets are not.

He should be held to a higher standard being a politician, private email or not .

I haven't read the leaflet, but what I garnered last night, he hasn't said he hates Asians.

Guess its like going to a Spanish resort and seeing more English ex-pats there than Spanish!
I agree in some ways, i personally don't thing multi-cultural environments are in our best interests, however its probably too late to start worrying about it now!
