| 1201615 | 2011-05-14 04:07:00 | What a load of bollocks!! :( :( The Police did stuff up the presentation of evidence but only because they "cocked-up" the search warrant. The evidence obtained by the Police (but later deemed inadmissible in court because of the search warrant debacle) was more that enough to hang Tamahere - period. And how did the body that was found get to be 70 Km away from where the police allege he was killed? There may have been an accomplice of course. I wouldn't trust the police as far as I could kick them after the stuff ups they have made in the past. I do realise that not all police are the same but how do we know which of them to trust? Note that recently two people who were charged and convicted of arson and spent time in the pokey were released and compensation is being paid out. About $380,000 I think which comes out of taxpayer funds rather than the coppers pocket. |

The evidence as produced in court to the jury should not have resulted in a murder verdict. If we had the law of Scotland here instead of British law, the verdict would probably have been 'not proven' which would allow the prosecution to have another go. In British law you are innocent 'til proven guilty, by default. This means that the jury is more likely to issue a 'guilty' verdict, just in case you were. Scots law requires a verdict of 'not guilty', 'not proven' or 'guilty'. |

There is a little bit of doubt about Tamihere's guilt for killing the Swedes. |

| 1201622 | 2011-05-14 09:22:00 | And, of course, it's not the first time police have done that. Auther Allen Thomas definately comes to mind with the planting of 22 cartridge casings by the two Auckland coppers. |
