1230863 2011-09-14 03:29:00 I'm setting up a new computer for someone, they need a new screen
Preferably 1680x1050 res

The choice of models on the likes of PriceSpy is quite dizzying
Does anyone have any suggestions? what to avoid etc?
Don't want to spend too much, but at the same time don't want to get a crap one when an extra $20 could afford a decent one

TIA!!!

1230864 2011-09-14 03:37:00 What do they want to spend? What size? What connections do they want? VGA, HDMI, DVI or all 3? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1230865 2011-09-14 05:12:00 1680x1050 seems to be dissappearing in favour of 1920x1080 (1080P same as TVs) and I think it's a good thing, too many different standards and aspect ratios just gets confusing and makes more work for content creators.

I have a 24" samsung and a cheap 27" AOC, surprisingly the AOC has a better looking display but the unit is a little tacky looking.

I like AOC, it's a cheap brand and has given me no trouble over about 5 different screens but if you want peace of mind maybe look for a name brand with a 3 year warranty.
I usually look at models in my price range then google some reviews myself.

There are some better display technologies available at the expensive end of the market, but all the common models are much the same technology wise with the quality of components and construction about all that distinguishes them.

1230866 2011-09-14 06:54:00 I just use LCD televisions.

The family PC is hooked up to an LG 32" 1080P LCD and my personal PC is hooked up to a 55" 1080P LCD.

Both are awesome.

1230867 2011-09-14 09:08:00 Just recently bought a 20" LG LED monitor for around $180. Images really impressed me. 3yr guarantee, got it from PB Tech PPp (9511)
