1230357 2011-09-11 22:53:00 Plug the computer in
push the on button nothing, unplugged replugged, turn on nothing - unplugged replugged turned on
30 seconds later the fans spin & the computer starts but,
seems to cycle through the start - I can hear the hard drive clicking, but it doesn't move through to a complete boot.
Force shut down
restart - boot up works fine except
it stalls on the boot up with a screen stating:
"Overclocking failed. Please enter setup to reconfigure your system."
We haven't "overclocked" anything???
Pressed F2 to load defaults & the boot up process completes normally.

There must be something failing here as this isn't a normal boot.
It doesn't seem to retain the default values in the bios.

any suggestions on to what needs fixed.

1230358 2011-09-11 23:24:00 Try changing the CMOS battery wainuitech (129)
1230359 2011-09-11 23:27:00 Sounds like the CMOS battery is flat, if it cant retain the settings in the BIOS. What BIOS is on it, its up to 0804 at the mo (non beta BIOS) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1230360 2011-09-11 23:35:00 Ok on the CMOS battery
in addition, I have changed the power supply unit and it has booted successfully there after - no delay.
The bios is American Megatrend v02.53

1230364 2011-09-12 01:03:00 Thats not the BIOS version thats on it. The original BIOS was 1006 the latest is 0804. It'll tell you on the post screen (it'll show 0604 or something). Or in the BIOS somewhere Speedy Gonzales (78)
1230365 2011-09-12 01:55:00 version 0501 NZHawk (4093)
1230366 2011-09-12 02:00:00 You could try updating that, since its 4 BIOS's behind. Just dont use ASUS update Speedy Gonzales (78)
