2011-05-23 03:11:00 | I think it's funny how the jehovahs Witnesses poke fun at the nutters like that guy - but they do exactly the same thing themselves . Anyone who actively defies the scriptures is setting themselves up for derision and abuse . You'll never hear the Witnesses talk about everybody rapturing . We don't preach hellfire or a soul that lives on for punishment or rewards and never about the destruction of the earth . Our god is also not a troika . If you knew what Camping was saying - that he exclusively knew the day and hour, and you also knew what the scriptures say about nobody knowing, not even the son of god himself, then you'd be able to see through the fallacy . That would be the outworkings of a capricious god - one who might want another virgin thrown into the volcano or to turn off gravity for fun . Camping just cherry-picked a few scriptures and built a following on it . This is why some persons consider things said from a pulpit by a preacher who says he's quoting scripture as a failure of the Bible itself . The Bible never said anything about a certain date nor that any one person would be able to glean it by counting occurrences of apostrophes in a paragraph or the number of verbs in a sentence . I don't blame people for being burned out on organized religion . It is a snare and a racket . Driven by money, lies and deceit, it shows it's underpinnings just like this time when the end of the world didn't happen . Thumping on the Bible, Camping said it was to be the end of the world, but the Bible never says that anywhere . So - in a broad sense, yeah - when the Bible is used as a weapon or a means to fear mongering as opposed to a book of understanding, I will be the first on line to call a lie a lie . But I also know this 'preacher' made a lot of money on his rapture histrionics - so there's that too . It doesn't take much insight to put the two together and come up with the unholy motive for his heralding a rapture for his followers . BTW: did you notice that they didn't go anywhere? Sad . Wasn't there another group that was gonna ride the flying saucer that was hidden behind the Hale-Bopp comet? Sad . How about Jonestown? Sad . How about all the wars run by the churches and religious zealots? Sad . How about people who are starving while they are commanded to gild the plates of their priests and religious leaders who live in luxury and huge buildings, some that are even sovereign nations? Sad . Frankly, I feel bad that so many people were duped, fooled and died at the hands of a charlatan preacher or priest, but people are gullible when they don't try to understand the full ramifications of their beliefs . If one believes in something, then one had best understand what they are believing .

2011-05-23 04:42:00 | I suspect anyone claiming to have witnessed jehovah is of such an age as to remember very little of yesterday, let alone a fair while* ago. ;) (* Approximately.)

Sad. We have our own home grown version right here in Auckland. :( Re the rest of your rant: x2  |

2011-05-24 03:06:00 | So, I wonder what happens when the next date rolls around and nothing happens.... Makes you wonder what an 89 year old needs with $104 million... Most people that I know at a similar age, are happy to be relaxing and enjoying grandchildren and great grandchildren. Money is not high on the agenda. :pf1mobmini:

2011-05-24 03:51:00 | 100% Joe They used to talk about the US arms expenditure, "if they just used 1 week of the money would feed the hungry in the world for a year" (Based on the annual budget) Same goes for Catholicism, and that is just 1 religion EDIT: no man knows the day (not even Jesus) i like that!
