1230759 2011-09-16 02:03:00 Version 5 does not disable real time scanning when you tell it to. I installed Version 5 & found the computer had mywebsearch installed, so I disabled real time scanning & ran the MyWebSearch uninstaller. NOD32 still blocked it & I had to uninstall NOD in order to properly remove MyWebSearch.

So a right click on the system tray icon and 'temporarily disable protection' didn't fully turn it off?

1230760 2011-09-16 02:39:00 FWIIW, I just installed ESET Smart Security v5 over v4 using the live installer for the trial version. Smooth as, no probs. It picked up my prefs and current licence, and noted that it was currently validated. I notice that it seems to create a faster start up for the PC, but otherwise I haven't noticed any differences apart from the new design. John H (8)
1230761 2011-09-16 02:42:00 No Problems on the two workshop PC's so far, one is smart security, the other the straight AV -- straight in over the top of the RC versions. wainuitech (129)

That is correct. I would expect this sort of behavior from Symantec, not Eset.

It is a new version so expect to find a few teething issues as with all software.

The real time bit doesn't alarm me too much. The fact that it protected that crap does though.
I might just leave V4 on for a while longer. Like the rest of the year.

1230765 2011-09-16 21:59:00 Eset have never been able to properly clean out MyWebSearch for some reason, but at least their products let you know that you shouldn't have that **** on your computer. Most other Anti-Virus apps think there is nothing wrong with MyWebSearch Greven (91)

1230767 2011-09-17 03:18:00 How does MSE stack up against ESET, or is there no comparison.?. Pato (2463)
1230768 2011-09-17 04:41:00 MSE used to take over my PC when updating. It got so irritating, I changed back to ESET.

I have now installed ESET Smart Security V5 on the other two computers here, and once again, no problems. Just lucky I guess.
