Why would anyone want to look behind to try & see what another vehicle is doing when turning left & then base their decision on guesswork. By this I mean that if there is confusion between left and right turning traffic the left turning car will get T boned into their (drivers) door where someone is always sitting (with their liver just waiting to be ruptured) . While the right turning traffic will get t boned into the front passenger where there usually isn't anyone sitting . (I see this at work, driver door intrusions cause massive injuries) The problem is that the rules aren't followed rather than the rules are wrong . Our traffic laws should be imposed with the religious zeal usually only shown by parking wardens . |

Transport Minister Steve Joyce said the current give way rules for turning vehicles were confusing and out of step with the rest of the world so they will be changed in early 2012. See here (www.nbr.co.nz). I also read somewhere that they did not want to change the rules before the World Cup. |
