1230394 2011-09-11 23:47:00 Right click on start button in Windows 7 and I get an option to open Windows Explorer.
:)

1230395 2011-09-12 00:44:00 You can change it to look almost the same as XP, by using Classic Shell (sourceforge.net) BUT be warned, it does change the complete layout of the start menu from W7 to XP style. Right clicking doesn't give you the same menu as XP, you will get Open or open all users instead of explore. wainuitech (129)
1230396 2011-09-12 01:03:00 be really adventurous -- make Explore look like the up and coming Windows 8 Version ;)3114

Compare to the Real one here (www.winrumors.com)

Thanks Wai, I thought I was going mad, again, that was what I was looking for, hence my giving up when nobody seemed to know what I was on about.

I can now rest in peace.

1230398 2011-09-12 01:18:00 The fact is, just when I am getting used to a system, the buggers go and change it on me, and to my mind it seem like change for change sake, certainly quite often isn't any better than the old. Cicero (40)
1230399 2011-09-12 01:21:00 I thought I was going mad Thats Ok -- I speak and understand Mad

The Classic shell does change the whole layout from the start menu (button) Pays to make a restore point first in case it turns pear shaped - to do this, right click on Computer / properties / On the left, System protection - Create.

If you want to revert back to the standard W7 layout, re run the Classic Shell, select remove - once finished reboot and its back to how it was.

When Windows 8's ribbon appears thats going to be "interesting" and a big change in looks.

One improvement I would like to see is when you drag and drop a file from one folder to another that the folder being dropped upon would remain highlighted so you can be sure it has gone to where you want.
Looking at that site the improvements certainly seem to be in the right direction

1230401 2011-09-12 01:47:00 Which is why I don't drag and drop folders but rather use CNTRL C and CNTRL V. Snorkbox (15764)
