1230425 2011-09-11 23:34:00 I want to read and transfer some data from my two internal IDE drives from my desktop to my laptop. How do I do this, eg what cables etc? Greg (193)
1230426 2011-09-12 00:14:00 IDE to USB cables are available, or use a usb IDE enclosure. 8ftmetalhaed (14526)
1230427 2011-09-12 01:10:00 No need for any additional cables if you have a router - simply make sure both are connected to the router, workgroup the same, share the folder(s) on the Desktop PC, then on the laptop, connect to the Desktop and read or copy the files.

if you dont have a Router, then a simple cross over cable will do to join the Two together, or even a USB transfer cable, something like this here (www.ascent.co.nz)

I'm pretty sure GigE has auto negotiate built in so you can probably use a normal cable if you have GigE on both machines, worth a try before buying a crossover at least.
Or you could get a Rewriteable disk and burn it one diskload at a time :) good character building exercise.
