1232256 2011-09-19 12:50:00 Hi guys, I have an Antec 300, which has 2 front intake fan bays with a washable air filter (seems to work great, because in 2 weeks the filter is caked with dust)
However, there is a third intake fan (120mm) on the left side of the case, to supply cold air to the GPUs (and the bottom mounted PSU, I guess), but it doesnt have a filter at all, so I currently have the side intake fan unplugged. I was wondering if anyone has seen any sort of filtering material around that's made specifically for this purpose? Doesn't have to be fine like hepa filter or cloth, just plastic mesh kinda stuff, but it would be nice if it has 4 holes to fit neatly between the case lid and the fan...

1232257 2011-09-19 21:45:00 A while ago I bought some metal mesh ones from trademe, they work really well on my system with 2000rpm fans, just dont leave it too long between cleaning nedkelly (9059)

Thats pretty good, thanks stormdragon, it would be nice to have one that can be sandwhiched between the fan and the case lid, but if I cant find one like that then I'll go for this one.
Cheers :)

1232262 2011-09-20 07:03:00 Simplest answer is to turn the fan around and make it an exhaust fan, then it doesn't need a filter.

You've got 2 fans pushing air in, and currently only the PSU fan pulling air out.

If all the fans were trying to push air in you'd get stale areas and a fair bit of heat.
Consider allowing some flow - in at the front, out at the back and side. Easy.

The fan i need the filter for is positioned over the dual fan GPU and bottom mount psu, all of which are exhaust fans. I need fresh air blowing on their intakes.
The side fan hole in the case was designed specifically to be used as an intake fan.
I currently already have 2x120mm intake fans at the front (already stock filtered), a 120mm rear exhaust fan and a 140mm top exhaust fan.
