| 1231272 | 2011-09-15 08:02:00 | Hi all, I have a, win7 ultimate 64bit based i5-760 plugged into a GA-H55M-USB3 with a radeon 4850 (1gb) taking care of the graphics. only 2gb of ram at this stage but will probably upgrade when i purchase the card i need help with. The problem is that i wish to have TV on my computer, capture that tv but also wish to do some pretty solid (think 50+)VHS to HDD recording. I have spent the last 2 days researching but cannot get my head around all the cards and such, A card similar to this but without the 3d capability seems to be ideal. Hardware encoding i hear is best. The VHS is all home movies and as such i would like good quality but really, how good is footage starting in the early 90s through to today really going to look? www.avermedia.com I am unsure if my input (TV) is currently digital or not as it is a dorm type situation with plugs in the wall coming from a booster box somewhere i presume. Being NZ and analogue being turned off soon i would assume it is going to be digital or will be at some point in the future. Ideally i wouldnt want to spend more than $120 but need some help figuring out if this is indeed the one for me, and whether it will actually work with my setup. | 1231273 | 2011-09-15 08:27:00 | Well, depending on what you want, this: hauppauge.com could be what you want, I personally have one for my laptop, (except an earlier model) and it works really well. its sorta like my sky, except without the sky. you can record programmes, watch live tv and all that. | 1231281 | 2011-09-15 19:59:00 | I have one of these www.pp.co.nz works great with windows media centre. Only a single tuner if thats an issue. I also have had an HVR900 USB tuner and it worked well also, and it did have composite/svideo in via an adapter cable. I decided I prefer internal though. I think avermedia is a good brand but hauppage seems much more popular. |
