| 1204681 | 2011-05-24 23:48:00 | Here ( . theaustralian . com . au/news/nation/telstra-throttle-to-curb-mobiles/story-e6frg6nf-1226062259897" target="_blank">www . theaustralian . com . au) . Could easily happen here too . Kudos for Telstra for being proactive about bill-shock for their customers, but why hamstring the technology? Why don't the telcos just implement better pricing models instead of using a twentieth-century-rape-and-pillage pricing model? Smartphones aren't going to become less popular in the future and the nuts and bolts of sending data isn't too different from sending voice (it's all broken down into packets), so it would make sense to rethink how they charge . Oops! just seen the flaw in my argument: "it would make sense" . This is quite different to "it would make cents" . Or am I just getting cynical in my dotage? |
