2011-09-16 10:31:00 | It wont be Itunes that doesnt use a com port, Does this thing have some setting or switch on it to make it work in USB mode or something. Is this the HTC 7 Trophy?? If it is you could try this (www.knowyourcell.com) . But I think you'll have to reinstall Zune. Thats if you know how to use the registry

2011-09-16 11:17:00 | Congrats it's a cool phone I have the same one. Mango only makes it better, you'll enjoy it. It sounds like the PC isn't detecting the Phone at all. There's a KB article here for that issue, you mention you've tried all the fixes but I'm not sure if you went to this one ... ? Worth a try if you haven't already: support.microsoft.com Try a different USB port, or a different PC, it might help isolate the issue. cheers W

2011-09-18 01:41:00 | Thanks for the help so far lads.... I've narrowed it down to my computer. I tried it on another computer and it worked straight away. I must have conflicting software / settings somewhere.

2011-09-18 07:27:00 | If neither the phone nor the GPS is detected, it'll definitely be a USB issue. Does a flash drive work? Also I'm using that same phone right now to type this :)

2011-09-19 04:23:00 | SOLVED!! I'm such a numbnuts. I tried everything. The problem was, I got the cables mixed up, and was using an old USB micro cable, and not the one which came with the phone. Used the right cable, and it worked straight away. Is there different grades of the same (i.e. usb micro) cable? Different quality for power hungry devices perhaps? Thanks Speedy and co for the generous assistance. Greatly appreciated.
