1203893 2011-05-21 06:46:00 Ok its about the power company i use . . . . . . . . . . . they have sent me another letter saying i need to up my $$ i pay ( i direct credit every fortnight)over the summer i payd till i was in multiple credit $$$$ since then i changed it so i could still pay a small amount and when i knew my energy use kicks up a notch i up my payments . . . . . . . . . . . . and get back on the trail of getting into credit .

currently i am nearly zilch credit, and so have just kept paying and if need top up payments as i have not change my auto payments . . . . . . . . . . . i have not ever i think got to the cutting off stage from the power company . . . . . . . . . . .

so i had been on the idea of changing the payment when i get some other things out of the way, i never have the time or $$ to fiddle lots with the $$ so this is where the energy company comes in . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . they have sent me 2 letters saying i have to up my $$ by double for the payments because of my projected year to comes use . . . . . . . . . . . . . . if i do not up the dollars i may lose some of my prompt payment discuounts or worse get into the red and have them cut me off . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

i see red here . . . . . . . . . . . . i have been a great customer, i have probably made them money while being in credit . . . . . . . . . and i pay regularly, i have power and gas with them, and have used them the whole time i have lived in this house, and in the past at other house's . . . . . . .

i have a great credit history and they tell me i am at risk of being a bad customer . . . . . . . . . . . . because my direct credits i pay are or have been up till now keeping me in the black and i should be thanked not sent 2 letters shouldnt i?

sigh . . . . . . . .

a grumpy beetle who does the best i can, im not made of money but i keep my nose clean and pay my bills on time or before i need to often . . . . . . . . .
i should be a coveted customer . . . . . . . .

:stare:

do you get letters like this? are you a good customer? i know money is tight every where, and bills always get paid before food is bought in this house . . . . . . . but come on where is compassion for people? or is it a massed produced computer letter?

Beetle, without sounding like I'm having ago . Can you please edit original post . It is quite hard to pull the facts out amongst the non facts . The way I read it you have lowered your agreed weekly amount, and therefore the amount being paid out for the year is not enough . We use the same easy pay system as you and have never had the agreed payments be adjusted to that degree either up or down .

1203894 2011-05-21 07:15:00 I guess you could call it easy pay, i just pay a set amount and have never been advised by them before to do that as i set it up not them, and have been doing this about 4 or 5 years now........ and it wasnt something they asked, suggested or advised on the whole time. i just coulnt afford lump sums every month so did the direct credit on my own back, and have always kept it above any required amount. i never sighned any form from them to say i was on an account plan etc...
If they were worried they only needed to look at the past history of this account and know i alter it and add to it, but never get in deep doodoo......

so all in all i never had a agreed amount ever, i just paid what i felt was appropriate. im not on a plan, so i dont see why they need to get uppy, when i dont think many people pay before using?

i know its worse, its probably harder to read and decipher... sorry.

Faie enough, it did sound like the official easy pay system. Have you rung them up and the them you are not. Expect too miss out on the early payment discount, and having to pay the full amount left over each month

1203896 2011-05-21 07:21:00 We had similar problems with Genesis. They wanted me to up the amount we paid with our CC. I showed them the figures on how much power we used in a year (over the last few years in fact) and my calculation on how much I should pay per month. They did not want to listen. They want me to pay too much so my CC essentially gives them more money than they are due, and I pay the interest on the CC so they can earn interest on the excess money I have to pay them.

I told them I was going to change companies because of their idiocy. I am now much happier with Meridian.

1203898 2011-05-23 04:52:00 Energy companies seem to devote a lot of effort to making their clients/victims feel powerless. R2x1 (4628)
1203899 2011-05-23 05:46:00 I rang them today . . . . . . . . .

well because i was not paying the required amount that they are using from the past years figures, they said i will lose my easy payment thingy . but then never hearing from them in the first place how was i too know what i was supposed to be paying? if i hadnt worked out a rough idea on my own . . .

Well i said thats fine since i dont ever remember signing up for it, cos i just pay online and set up a auto payment my end so i can monitor my in's and outs . . . . . .

oh she said would you like me to cancel it then?
i asked will it lose me anything being on it? no, will it lose me anything if im not on it . . yes she said .
so im still on it, and i agreed i woul look into my auto payments and she would make a note on my sheet . . . . . . . . . . . .

i did ask how i got onto it without filling out a form or ringing to ask for it to happen . . . . she didnt know .

so no loss i guess, im just confused . . . . . . . . as usual .

and they wont be penallising me she said . . . . . . . . or something to those words . . . . . .

sigh, just gotta up the payments . . . . which i had been meaning to do,

so all fixed . . maybe . . . . . . .
its a beetle thing a . . . .

1203900 2011-05-23 06:36:00 We get a regular monthly invoice for the power used, one month its read, next its estimated, so it balances out.

We simply have an account that has auto payments going in from one other account, then when the bills due simply pay it. If its more than we have saved, top it up to suit, if its less then we have a few $ for next month.

If ever for some reason we cant make the full payment on time, I call them (Empower) and make arrangements as to when - they seem more than happy as long as you contact them. They dont charge you late fees either if you call them and its going to be late.
