2011-09-16 08:14:00 | Hi there, So....I've been given a new work phone. It's an HTC Trophy with Windows Phone 7. Yep. I have connected the phone to my PC (Win XP Pro SP3) ....and it charges....but otherwise does nothing. Nothing is detected on the PC. I have downloaded the Zune software. Uninstalled. Reinstalled. Restarted, etc. I have tried ActiveSync, checked services.msc and device manager. I have downloaded all Zune and Windows updates, different USB ports and cables, and all the fixes on the Microsoft website. I have googled every possible problem, and have come back empty handed. I want to be able to sync music, videos, and outlook if possible. Any ideas?

2011-09-16 08:51:00 | I have no idea. Dont have one to try it. Does Zune install drivers for it? Look in device manager (if you decide to install it again). And is anything missing in DM? | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2011-09-16 09:01:00 | Zune doesn't seem to have drivers for it, it is just the compatible sync software. When I plug it in, it starts charging, but the computer doesn't detect anything, or try to install a new device. Nothing shows up in DM, no Portable Devices etc. No errors in DM.

2011-09-16 09:02:00 | When installing activesync, did you get the correct one for XP ? From this page (www.microsoft.com) BUT reading down the bottom it may not work with your version of phone -- OS to old & phone to new. | wainuitech (129) | |

Yeah, I tried Activesync 4.5, which is only compatible with XP SP2 or earlier. The USB driver in ActiveSync also clashes with Zune, so i've tried one without the other with no luck. |

2011-09-16 10:21:00 | Have you installed anything else that uses a com port?? It looks like other suites (like Sony PC suite) can stuff things up. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2011-09-16 10:29:00 | I have iTunes. I have disabled the Apple and iPod services while I try and figure this out. There's nothing else that I can think of which would clash....not unusual devices attached etc
