1233479 2011-09-25 18:55:00 I don't think you can selectively re install stuff from a backup as you would be creating an image of the whole drive and when you restore that image everything is put back gary67 (56)
1233480 2011-09-25 20:41:00 Thanks Dunk, right on! - to continue, a previous XP reinstall by another "expert" was different to mine, he never asked for my original; subsequently small problems (nuisances) exist, e.g. services is not available, a file is missing though it is there - the games are not available though they also are there but, etc - tried to get them off my disk but errors show up - i can live with the system the way it is but it's a b****y nuisance, and so

Gary67, will take that on board, thanks

Sounds like he did a repair reinstall and your games etc don't work because the registry entries for them don't exist on the new installation of windows.

1233482 2011-09-26 05:33:00 thanks Agent_24, any suggestions to rectify? - apart from a format and reinstall jayal (1291)
1233483 2011-09-26 06:20:00 Reinstalling the game\program etc will usually fix it.

You may have to delete the old files in 'Program Files' etc first though as it may not install if they are still there.

Best course of action (for a clean start and no problems) would be a format and reinstall, of course.
