I can get a replacement battery from 3rd parties to replace this exact battery. But most of the 3rd party sites also quote Vostro 1510 compatible batteries at 5200 and 7800 mAh. The issue is the web sites say these bigger batteries are only 11.1v. Could I use them in my Vostro when the existing battery says it is 14.8v? I don't see how they can be all compatible with the same model of Vostro if different voltages are involved. |

Some Dell models read a chip inside the power adapter (and possibly battery) and if it doesnt give the correct code it reduces the processor speed (by about 50%). I had this problem with a clients laptop who complained it was running slow, it took a good few hours research to find out why. It was a resonably common fault once I started getting into it. So, while it may work, it might not run at reduced cpu power. I have a feeling it may have been a Vostro model as well but cant quite recall. I guess it is Dells way of trying to make sure consumers buy genuine Dell replacement parts. Good luck though, it the sites state it will work, they have to honor that, so shouldnt cost anything to try. |
