1206114 2011-06-01 05:37:00 Bit bored this time round, they seem to be cranking up the calls.

So after skipping on the click this, type that stuff, went to EV, well didn't actually but she thought so.

Them)How many errors?
Me)In which log - App, Setup, Security or System?
Them)System.
Me)None

None? Round and round through the next 3 techs.

Them)Why do I think I have no errors or warnings.
Me)Well, perhaps because I rebuilt Windows recently and no drivers or Windows Services have any issues?
Them)Oh, so what Av do I use because Nortons is not good.
Me)Yes, I know, it's a piece of ****. I use NOD32.
In addition I have HJT, Counterspy, Spybot, MBAM, TDSSKill, Combofix, Superantispyware and one other rootkit detector.
Oh.
Them)But your software maintenance warranty has expired.
Me)Oh, which piece of sw are we talking about?
Them)How old is your PC?
Me)Which part?
Them)What do you mean?
Me)Explain various ages of various components in it
Them)Ah so the warranty on your hard drive has run out
Me)So?
Them)You are not protected against these infections
Me)Hardware has nothing to do with malware infections, are we now back to software problems or are we still discussing my hardware?
Them)So what if your hardware stops working.
Me)I fix it
Them)Oh, well you don't need our help then.
Me)NO
Them)No need to be rude
Me)I haven't been rude but I may do as you seem to be having difficulty distinguishing between hw, sw, malware and warranties.
Them)You are being rude
Me)Well you rang me, I didn't ring you
Them)OK, we just needed to check everything is OK on your PC
Me)Why? Who are you and why should you care?
Them)We just make the calls for a courtesy?
Me)That's good of you seeing as I didn't purchase any of the hw from you nor any sw that I run, perhaps you could just take me off your scam list now
Them)OK, we'll do that

1206120 2011-06-01 10:24:00 If you missed Fairgo tonight, you can go here (tvnz.co.nz).

The episode on Fairgo was about the PC Virus Scam. A person took a call from a lady with an accent from the Indian Sub Continent. They wanted to take control of the computer using Team Viewer.

Team Viewer is perfectly safe, just like the web site Logmein which is another one they use.

The programs/Site are completely legit.

Its the fact that these scams are using legit remote software thats the problem. The companies that have the software/site are the innocent ones getting a bad name.

I'm glad someone has finally come out and said that . I use Teamviewer for remote help for a few people, and I'm worried that they are going to think they are (a) vulnerable and (b) I'm going to do something malicious .
