1205973 2011-05-31 17:31:00 New Zealand Casino Staff Forced To Wear Flea Collars To Keep Blood Suckers At Bay (www.myfoxdc.com)

Youse guys let sheep into your casinos?

I though it was going into Winter there. The ChCh iGoogle weather report for today looks like it is barely over the freezing point - that point is where fleas all die - I don't think they hibernate.

AUCKLAND, New Zealand - Workers at the casino in New Zealand's largest city have been forced to wear flea collars to work in a bid to ward off the blood-sucking critters, the New Zealand Herald reported Tuesday.

The alarming report follows news of similar infestations forcing nurses at some Auckland hospitals to adopt a similar course of action in December -- sparking a warning from health authorities against humans wearing the pet collars, which emit toxins.

Employees at SkyCity Casino were spraying themselves with insect repellent and wearing pet flea collars around their ankles to ward off fleas, according to Unite Union national director Mike Treen.

1205974 2011-05-31 19:47:00 Fleas lay eggs and they hatch. The Casino is in Auckland and not ChCh and I don't believe the temps inside achieve freezing point anyway as freezing point is 32 F.

Also the Fleas are probably carried in by rats or people rather than sheep.

I remember once when Bob Hope was in Vegas, playing a casino and he made the crack: "How small is my room? Well, I'll tell ya that the rats are all stoop-shouldered".

The management got all over his publicist and demanded a retraction in the next show.

Hope made the retraction all right: "Last show I said my room was so small that the rats were all stoop-shouldered. I'm here now to tell that the rats in my room are NOT stoop-shouldered."

Kinda reminded me, that's all.

1205976 2011-05-31 21:01:00 We've had to battle them since we moved into our new place. It was dead simple to grab those flea bombs and do the house over with them. Seems to be fine since :D

Only happened when we let the %@#$ cats outside though. Should have listened to my wife and had "inside cats", but no, I had to be nice to them and let them go outside :p

Never known sheep to have a problem with fleas and by the way we don't understand the °F we use °C(I do but I am talking collectively). The USA must be about the last country to use °F.
You funny buggers also have your electrical switches arse about face.

1205979 2011-06-01 01:45:00 Must be some pretty low unkempt types frequenting that gambling den.

Our 2 Cats get "Frontlined" evey 6 weeks and the 3 dogs every 8 weeks, cats and dogs get wormed every 12 weeks.

We don't have a flea problem, but we probably would if they were not treated regularly.

I was watching a "THIS OLD HOUSE" TV show out of the states the other day.
The measurement of a length of timber was 58 inches and 11/32ths
Com-on Joe, slap your country mates around a bit, and drag them into the 20th century :-)

My cats have their own door so they come and go as they please.

Lessee - 20th Century - is that decimal or The King's Nose?

If my cat had a door - it would be self-locking once it exited .

Seriously though - we can't have cat doors here - too many rattle snakes, tarantulas, scorpions and skunks like to come and go at will .
