| 1205583 | 2011-05-29 12:37:00 | Has anyone tried this? The biggest problem is that online retailers refuse to use cheap international shipping options and charge ripoff prices to ship internationally, when it only costs a few dollars to send a parcel overseas. Does anyone know of a cheap way to get items shipped here from overseas, which does not involve having a family member/friend buy it and ship it to you here? |

| 1205584 | 2011-05-29 12:44:00 | There's places like this http://www.shipito.com/ But it may not work out any cheaper unless the retailer is severely gouging on the shipping. |

But it would probably take 3 months to reach NZ. |

| 1205587 | 2011-05-29 22:36:00 | Depends who you buy from. I buy Blu-ray DVDs from Amazon UK. Postage is either free or very cheap. Free to NZ at this point. Usually land a BD at about 1/2 to 2/3 of the NZ retail cost. Ken :banana |

Well it is still cheaper than NZ right? You could just get in NZ...... That is how I look at it or buy more stuff you expect to need/want for the same postal price. If you use courier in NZ like international ... there is gonna be a min size. Shipping a pair of gloves from NZ intl courier (with tracking and insured) might not be that cheap either. |

I buy Blu-ray DVDs from Amazon UK. Postage is either free or very cheap. Free to NZ at this point. Usually land a BD at about 1/2 to 2/3 of the NZ retail cost. Ken DVDs are really cheap because they weigh next to nothing and take up almost no space. Although amazon seems to ship items based on category rather than actual weight/volume...so something like a wallet would cost more to ship than a book, despite the book weighing more and taking up more space. Then you might wanna buy from eBay then ... and email the seller before. Tried this, so far every seller has flat out refused to use cheaper options and insisted on charging $10 USD or more to ship something very small and lightweight. And i would probably buy it in NZ if it was available, but its not... |

| 1205591 | 2011-05-30 06:48:00 | $10US is less than $15NZ, not worth the fuss IMO. I would just buy it. | Nomad (952) | ||
| 1205592 | 2011-05-30 07:35:00 | Depends how they send it... if they send it FedEx Express with tracking it's going to cost a lot more than say USPS First Class International with no tracking. Most proper retailers use tracked and insured services by default, so the cost is high. Also they charge for packing materials\envelopes, boxes and sometimes handling. Large and heavy items will put the price up high too. I bought a toner cartridge from eBay, shipping I think was actually more than the item, BUT I did it because even with the shipping cost, it was still about 4 times cheaper than buying it locally. They could use cheap shipping. But it would probably take 3 months to reach NZ. Most places take 2 weeks, sometimes it can be only 1 weeks, sometimes it can be 3-4 weeks (from my own experience) |
