1233348 2011-09-25 19:56:00 It will always be cheaper the day after you buy something, that's just life.
Shops I can reccommend:
www.computerlounge.co.nz - very popular with the PC world crowd and with good reason, built my last system from here
www.pp.co.nz - usually a bit dearer but sometimes not, great range and website. I've been using this one for years and can reccomend their service
PBTech, at least the Hamilton branch ( www.pbtechnz.com ). I have never bought a whole PC from them but they are my best local shop with a branch I can visit, sometimes it's better to use a local shop in case of problems.

Any of these will build system to order for you or supply the parts for you to do it yourself.
If you want advice on what to get give us an Idea of your budget and any particular needs or preferences and we'll give you our opinions.

Myself for a gaming build I favour something like; intel i5 2500K, 4~8GB RAM, Nvidia GTX560ti or 570, fast hdd or SSD, asus or gigabyte MB with P67 or Z68 chipset. If you want to spend more than that get a faster graphics card, if it's too much I can reccommend something cheaper if needed, or someone else will :)

1233349 2011-09-25 20:54:00 Yes if you wait, you will always be waiting.
After Xmas they may drop prices if they did not sell much.
Or the dollar may go up or down.

You have not said if you are buying a built up one or building yourself.

I like PB Technologies and Elive.
Both give good service and prices on parts.

1233350 2011-09-25 20:56:00 +1 for computer lounge and pbtech Hamilton dpDesignz (15919)
1233351 2011-09-26 06:51:00 Most of these price drops are for BRAND NAME computers as sold by the big name retailers. Most these computers don't have full details of the components available and as gary67 says aren't always the latest in high specs. They are probably OK for "everyday" use, but most of them would struggle with a high demand game. Computer shops will usually base their made up computers around current hardware prices plus assembly. Of course the best way to buy a computer is to buy the parts and assemble it yourself.
