1206010 2011-06-01 08:42:00 Many years ago, I bought a maglite torch. The warranty covered it for everything except shark bites and children under 5. user (1404)
1206011 2011-06-01 09:11:00 Speaking of explosion-proof lights, I bought one of these (armytek.com) the other day - best light I've ever owned.

Note 2:40 in this video (www.youtube.com) (shows what happens when the light is shot at) - I'd consider that passing the field-test with flying colours, not every flashlight could handle that kind of abuse!

Edit: I didn't buy it for the durability (though there's no denying it's pretty bulletproof), I bought it because it's programmable, has outstanding regulation and power management, and has one of the best UIs I've ever found in a flashlight .
That is one hell of a torch and I want one.
Where did you get it? I see a google using NZ brings up nothing.

Note also that the manufacturer's giving some pretty decent discounts at the moment - see this thread (www.cpfmarketplace.com). The price includes fast shipping via DHL.

Edit: Oh and the exchange rate is great now too, so get in fast!

Compared with the real Google, the NZ version threatens to bring up my lunch.

The torch does seem impressive, but while getting it shot is not all that high on my list, certain graffiti artists of this parish might find it useful. I must consider the UI as a criterion next time I want a nocturnal sock finding appliance. My current apparatus was selected for it's ability to be recharged manually, but putting the squeeze on it recently merely left both my arm and the battery exhausted, while the armstrong glow would not even inspire moths to deviate too far.
