| 1205205 | 2011-05-28 04:37:00 | Quite correct if your organs are deprived of oxygen for too long they become useless, my wife is down as an organ donor while I am not, it's not because I'm selfish more to do with the fact that I cannot give blood as I lived through the CJD era in England so I don't wish to provide organs that could also be tainted. I do believe that organ donors are to be applauded for doing something once they no longer need their organs. As to the suicide option maybe blowing your brains out where someone can here you such as outside the hospital entrance. Suicide is a fact of life and should be openly discussed not hidden under the carpet like so many other social problems are. :2cents: |

| 1205209 | 2011-05-28 05:49:00 | Well, I think Goodiesguy should relish his off-beat sense of humour - whether it's PC or not, it is a source of fun for him (and others) - and frankly I'm of the feeling that a life without fun/jokes/laughter is a life that's lacking - so enjoy whatever you can find to put a smile on your dial - even if others do like to respond to the same thing with a grump. Anyway, the challenge it seems is to find a way out without chemical (pharmaceutical) poisoning or oxygen starvation. That rules out pills, taping on a bag, and hanging, and slitting a vessel (blood loss=O2 loss). Trauma (car crash) risks organ damage and blood loss. A bullet through the head also risks blood loss, and a general lack of respiration if the brainstem gets taken out. Frankly, I can't think of a solution that doesn't either risk a rescue (possibly with terrible consequences for the injured party) or risk destroying the organs. If we had a sensible euthenasia policy these situations might be able to be worked to everyones advantage, but currently it seems it's loose/loose. |

The first part of that was my first thought, but I've seen the end result of a few of those (won't say where), it leaves behind a truly horrifying scene. Even if your organs could be salvaged from that, the lasting effect on your friends and family would far outweigh the benefits. That's just my opinion though, I'm sure someone will see it differently. |
