1205495 2011-05-29 00:04:00 So, I build a media PC to be hooked up to the television.
I fit a blu-ray player into the media PC
I buy the expensive blu-ray software for the best results.
I buy W7
I buy a bunch of blu-rays.

Wasn't cheap.

I insert a Blu-ray.

I says it can't play it without an update:xmouth:

I have no net feed in the cottage (hence the media PC to keep me entertained)

I take the box elsewhere, Hook into the net, movie plays.

AWESOME, stunning even.

I take it home, Try to watch the movie, Same crap.Won't play.

There is no update, The filthy DRM wants to phone home before allowing me to watch my damn movies each and every time.

So now, I'm having to rip every single disc to a 2TB harddrive just so I can watch the damn things.

What level of moron comes up with this crap?

The DRM does nothing against even the casual pirate yet causes massive inconvenience for paying customers, This is the exact crap that made me stop buying PC games.

1205497 2011-05-29 00:50:00 Thats absolutely bloody crazy :groan:

I suspect it will be cause the Blu-ray movie is being played on a computer .

If the Blu-ray movie were played on a standalone Blu-Ray player there wouldn't be a problem, not all stand alone players have a internet connection for DRM .

Mine has a connection, but it not connected to the LAN/internet, and plays movies fine . (could do with a better TV and the media center is in need of a major upgrade to handle blu- Ray though) :D

1205501 2011-05-29 03:45:00 I've relocated to Masterton, rented a cortege out on a farm.

I visit the family on alternate weekends.

1205502 2011-05-29 04:04:00 I think a "cortege" is a group that follow the dead, correct me if I am wrong;) Cicero (40)

1205504 2011-05-29 04:30:00 with the right software there is no need for an Internet connection to play a BD movie (BD-Live disabled) .

Total Media Theatre Platinum 3 . 0 . 1 . 180 . All internet access is blocked .

Almost all problems are solved with AnyDVD HD (free trial) . AnyDVD + PotPlayer (or MPC-HC) works great if you just want to watch the BD movie (no menu or nags) .
