1206830 2011-06-17 21:11:00 Dont go to the police, give the guy enough rope to hang himself by doing something stupid. prefect (6291)
1206831 2011-06-17 21:34:00 Been to the police, lodged a report. Im the first to repoert the accident and with the threat they are no longer interested and i quote "its irrelevant now" The money side of it does not involve the police either, its a civil dispute, I might just cut my losses and offer 500 and tell him to f**k off

EDIT: I shud say, they are no longer interested in the actual accident, and the learners license is neither here nor there. I think it was more of a warning.

That's excellent. As long as the police deal to him, everybody wins. Well, you win.

If you have his address, write a cheque for $500, write on the cheque something to the effect of "in full and final settlement of the car accident on ____ (date)", and mail it to him.

That way he can take it or leave it. My bet is he'll take it, and the matter is then settled (legally).

This is a similar concept to paying him cash and getting a receipt saying full and final payment, except you don't have to meet him.

1206833 2011-06-18 00:29:00 Cheque? hmmmmm i dont have those. Good idea. I would write that on the back i suppose. Yeah i will consult legal advice first. I think its a big deal over a tiny dent. aidanmaz (7180)
1206834 2011-06-18 00:31:00 You can get a Cheque from the bank but it'll cost $6 or so Agent_24 (57)
1206835 2011-06-18 00:36:00 The less i see/hear of this guy the better aidanmaz (7180)
1206836 2011-06-18 00:40:00 Wait why are you sending him $500?

That won't make him go away. Because he sounds dodgy you really need to do it properly or not at all. If you give him any money make sure he signs something saying so. Or have someone else witness it. Otherwise get a legit panelbeater quote and pay that.

Or just go to Canada. Because the police aren't interested then there is nothing against your name that will stop you. He will give up eventually.

Had a friend do some damage to a car, no insurance. Guy kept ringing and after a while my friend told who he was living with to say he'd moved to Aussie. The guy eventually gave up. Not that I recommend doing this, but this guy you're dealing with sounds like he doesn't deserve a cent.

1206837 2011-06-18 00:59:00 I actually dont have 500 after my my trip expenses now. Yeah il just leave it I have blocked his number so he cant text me, and i dont answer unknown numbers. So other than work (he says he knows where i live but i have no idea how he would know) he cant touch me. Yes the police know about the learners, werent interested in seeing the damage or taking my number plate. I think the more he hounds me the more he is hammering nails in his own coffin so to speak as if its too much i can just add it to the police report as continual harassment. aidanmaz (7180)
1206838 2011-06-19 02:42:00 If I was you id offer him 1500 for the car (buy it), insure it for ****loads then park it outside his house everyday until he gets angry enough to damage it, then send him the bill for all the damage hueybot3000 (3646)
1206839 2011-06-19 06:11:00 Looks like an attempt to repair the doors in the last two photos has been made as the dent a pushing out in some of them, have a close look. Looks like he is trying you on.

Edit Sorry repeating I did not read all the in between posts. Just be careful.
