1206820 2011-06-04 10:44:00 Those pic's look dodgy to me,looks like the panels behind the front guard have been pushed out from the inside and also looks like have been done by something else other than a another vehicle
+1 That is exactly what I thought although I thought sucked out not pushed out.

1206821 2011-06-05 00:13:00 Certainly ask for his license. You never know he mightn't have one or its expired in which case he won't want police involved. Clod (7853)
1206822 2011-06-05 05:06:00 Did you ask to sight his license?

If aidanmaz asks the other person for his licence he will most likely be asked to reciprocate and my impression is that the other person does not yet know aidanmaz's full name. Showing his licence will provide those details.

As others have said, I would recommend contacting the CAB first thing Tuesday morning and committing to nothing until after then. Certainly do not sign or agree to anything until advice has been obtained from the CAB.

1206823 2011-06-12 07:19:00 1) Don't accept a quote on lined paper. I don't think there are many businesses left that are such luddites they don't at least use excel to do quotes.
2) Talk to few other panelbeaters, if they say less than what you've been quoted, be suspicious. I've have similar front guard damage repaired for around $700
3) Get your damn license, you are freeloading off the many people who have spent huge sums of money on vehicle and driver compliance, in return for safer roads. And get insurance too, you could cause an accident involving the local tycoon's lamborghini, or large truck worth a similar amount of money. Then spend the rest of your life paying it off.

1206826 2011-06-17 05:05:00 Sorry for the silence, the saga goes as such: He managed to see me at the mall today and after following me (i am working) he said he has the 3 quotes. I didnt really want to talk since i was late for work, and i said call me, which he pulled me aside and said to either man up and pay or walk like a girl, so i said I'd not pay to which he replied "F**ck your mum you f**king f****t" I walked. Apparently the police have been informed (what evidence has he got and its getting a bit late to do anything now). I was shocked at his immature attitude, since its been 2 weeks since i heard from him, and almost 5 weeks since the accident. I am due to head to Canada on the 5th and dont want anything to stop me from going. I find the comments he made totally insulting and am quite upset about it. aidanmaz (7180)
1206827 2011-06-17 09:17:00 Update: The guy has returned to work and now threatened me in front of his friends that he knows where i live and he will bash me up. Judging by the way he had a smile and was leaning towards me over the counter, I think he would prolly carry it out. After contacting several ppl I think its in my best interests to go to the police, yes i will lose my license most likely. but id rather have him not contact me, i havent replied to any of his threats or abuse. aidanmaz (7180)
1206828 2011-06-17 12:49:00 I strongly urge you to go to the police immediately. Your own safety is the most important thing.

You will possibly be fined $400 for driving on your learners but I see no reason you would lose your license. Also as you have no history they might just warn you.

You may also wind up having to pay the full (fair) cost of the repairs (ie not his inflated amount). Even though he is being totally unreasonable and scam you out of money, and threatening you, both legally and morally you should STILL pay him for the damage you caused (no more, no less).

The financial cost you can recover from and it will be a valuable, though expensive lesson. You sound like a reasonably honest, responsible person which is nice.

1206829 2011-06-17 13:02:00 Go to the police. This scum is trying to intimidate you most likely, but just go to the police nonetheless. Tell them everything he has done, the abuse, and most importantly the threats.

In a perfect world of course it would be legal to just run the ******* over with a car making sure you break all 206 bones in his body.

Oh, and yes, back in high school a friend of mine was fined for driving on a learner's. I can't remember the exact amount, but he did not lose his license and apart from being a few hundred bucks out of pocket and endured the wrath of his parents for a week or so he did not suffer any long-lasting effects.
