1206810 2011-06-04 02:01:00 work is easy, bus. cheaper and saves on parking. Had learners for a while, cant make excuses, just slips my mind. And yes i fully admit i shouldnt have been driving, but we do things we shouldnt, not that im making excuses. - least I'm honest

This is why 3rd party should be compulsory for every driver on the roads, let the police/whoever deal with the matter if you have no insurance.

Can't see the damage costing more than 500$ (including a paint job).

Now, I would suggest you stop being honest and get your damn license.

1206814 2011-06-04 03:23:00 Interesting thread.

Firstly, what's with everyone asking about insurance? ANY insurance he might've had would've been void as he was driving illegally anyway so it's irrelevant.

Secondly, from my point of view there is no way you could've caused those dents down the side of the car. The RH guard is where you would've stopped.

Don't expect anything for $50 though. Panel beaters are a rip off no matter where you go. I'd say for that front panel you may be looking at around $700 - $900 at a guess (no I'm not a panel beater). And they generally have to paint the whole panel as well which may include the door if you're unluckly. However I love how he thinks you somehow managed to put dents above the door handle AND below that black strip (Can't think of name) while continuing to reverse down the side of his car :lol.

So far I think you're lucky he hasn't involved the cops as you'd probably get fined for driving on a learners license. ($200 or $400?)

But make sure you have 3 legit quotes, do not include the one he has given you because it has not been stamped (or whatever it needs to have done to be "legit") and it sounds like he may know the panel beater anyway.

As a last shot you could take your car in to the panel beaters to help prove you didn't cause the other damage. But any decent panel beater would be able to tell those other dents have already been popped out (although done quite poorly)

Thanks. Yes i will get him to get 3 quotes as well as i will. Anyway until i see him with a witness on monday thers not much to do. And he cant expect me to do much on a sunday. Interesting to note, i carjammed the plates of his car, and the warrant expires today, which explains his urgentness. As for my license fine, if it comes to that then yes i should be fined, i did after all break the law.

1206816 2011-06-04 03:44:00 Some damage appears to be done before you crashed into him. Contact him and say you are fraudulently trying to get money out of me for damage I didnt cause. In return for not dobbing you into the feld polizei I suggest you fix the damage I caused at your cost. prefect (6291)
1206817 2011-06-04 03:54:00 Did you ask to sight his license? plod (107)
1206818 2011-06-04 04:12:00 I think you have misunderstood . Yes he did do the right thing . Was just saying that if he hadn't the guy probably wouldn't even have noticed, it was only a very small ding, but it was on the plastic bit of the bumper which had to be replaced .

Sorry LL, I didn't see that at first .
