2011-06-06 23:01:00 | Well they have just lost a customer - and possibly a few more as well. Counterspy is no longer available :crying End of Life (www.sunbeltsoftware.com). Seems they are going like every one else, including a Antivirus in the package - it will certainly clash with most other AV's. This is the one reason I stopped used Webroot's spysweeper. you can more than likely disable the AV part, but its a PITA.

2011-06-06 23:28:00 | Just wrote to them asking is there any way to carry on using Counterspy as is -- gave them a polite telling off, saying they will be losing lots of customers by going the way they have, as there are many people who wont re subscribe as they prefer to use their own AV, what ever it is, Nod32, MSSE, Avast etc. I await their response :D

2011-06-08 06:01:00 | Just an update; Got a reply back from them - Thanks for raising your concerns regarding CounterSpy being discontinued. I will forward this to management and also investigate further if there is any way around this. So anyone who uses it, and wants it to remain the same, write to them and complain -- enough complaints and they may offer a solution.

2011-06-14 06:29:00 | Adding to this -- Got a reply back today, they are advising their current customers to dump counterspy, and install Vipre antivirus, which is meant to contain Counterspy . Well to give it a fair go, I downloaded Vipre, scanned a customers PC with it (The Computer had AVG installed originally) -- Vipre --what a bloody joke . :groan: It found 18 infections . Uninstalled Vipre, then scanned with Super Antispyware, Spybot and Nod32 (still got Malwarebytes to go) . Instantly Nod went nuts with an active infection (this is the New Version 5 of Nod), so far between the three programs (Super Antispyware, Spybot and Nod32) over 400 infections  Nods at 23 % and this is AFTER Vipre has been run through it . Good on you Sunbelt - Kill a good product . Edit: Nods just picked up another 7 :)

2011-06-14 07:05:00 | You should be able to, but currently Version 5 is still in Beta, so may pay to wait till is final. I've been using it in the workshop for a while now, and so far no problems what so ever. One thing it does very well (you can disable it if you want) is when plugging in a USB drive it asks to be scanned, it wont allow you to do anything with the drive till you answer it, this will stop an infected USB drive from infecting the PC. Counterspy did the same thing.
