1206901 2011-06-04 03:06:00 Renmoo arrives at my house in 5 minutes, and we are going out through the Masterton metropolis to find :banana Metla. Where should we look? Advice please. :D

BTW, I motorcycled up to Woodville to meet Renmoo this morning. He was where I thought a discerning intelligent PF1er would be - in the cheese cake cafe, LOL. We then went to Mt Bruce where I had a feed at the cafe while Renmoo went on the wildlife tour.

BTW, I was shocked  to discover Renmoo does not have GPS and not even a smart phone.: What sort of a young techie Asian PF1er is he??!! lol:

1206905 2011-06-04 04:49:00 Masterton has now stood down the AOS call out. :clap BobM (1138)
1206906 2011-06-04 04:53:00 I was most impressed with the thought that went into finding Metla, do not take up being a gumshoe. Cicero (40)
1206907 2011-06-04 06:06:00 Renmoo drove and I was tour guide. We first checked Masterton Police Station , then the Kids Own Playground ;) and the Horse and Hound pub as the most likely places to find Metla. Nevermind, the highlight of the tour was the 100 yr old swing bridge across the Waipoua River, then Renmoo drove off to Palmerston North - yet another exciting city to investigate... :groan:

Back in Wanganui for the weekend.

Bummer. :p

Did you manage to keep to the speed limit? For me it was the slowest bike trip to Woodville - mostly around 95 kph. Did not feel up to passing at the usual 110- 130 kph and getting a hefty fine, but actually did not see one cop.

The swing bridge up Walls Whare way would be far more interesting next time.

1206910 2011-06-07 11:16:00 Day One:
I left Napier at 8am. Headed straight to Woodville to meet up with Strommer who was supposed to come up to Napier on the same day as well. Along the way, I stopped at Dannevirke to take a piss. We met up at 10.40am in the quiet town famous for its cheese cake shop aka Yummy Mummy's. After a brief chit chat and a cup of coffee, Strommer said that he decided to head back down to Masterton instead. Before we left Woodville, we agreed to meet up for lunch.

At 12.15pm, we met each other again at Mt. Bruce Wildlife Reserve. Strommer bought something from the cafe for lunch, while I stuck with my $4.58 for six muffins from Pak n' Save instead. 15 minutes later, Strommer biked on to Masterton, while I hang around there for another hour or so for the Wildlife tour. Wasn't too interesting, but at least I can say that I have visited that place.

At 1.30pm, I left Mt Bruce and drove to Masterton. There, I met up with Strommer for the third time. He gave me a local guided tour, of which I appreciate greatly. Subsequently, I bade farewell to Strommer and drove northwards. However, before I reached Woodville, I detoured off Pahiatua to Palmerston North. I arrived at the quiet town at approximately 4.30pm.

I met up with an ex-classmate at the hospital dormitory. There, we had plenty of chit-chats about our lives as pharmacy interns and our assignments as well. We went out to dinner at one of the Thai restaurants in town. After that, we went back and talked some more til late.

Day Two:
The next morning, I left Palmerston North at 9am. The gorge between Palmerston North and Woodville was beautiful. I arrived back in Napier at 11.30am. Had a two hour rest + lunch subsequently.

At 1.30pm, I went to the airport to pick up a friend. We drove straight to Gisborne after that. I had plenty of close calls with some of the speeding cars that were travelling on the opposite direction. We arrived in Gisborne at about 5pm at my workmate's friend's home. There, we had homemade Hongi for dinner.

Day Three:
A mate brought us up to Te Puia, which is 100km north of Gisborne for a visit. Plenty of beautiful coast and beaches along the way. We arrived there at about 11am. Mate's parents were staying there. They showed us around the farmland which is where they are living at. There were plenty of first hand experience with farm life, from feeding chickens to patting sheep. We stayed there for about two hours, then drove back down to Gisborne. After a brief packing, me and my workmate left Gisborne at 4.30pm. As I drove through the valleys and hills, night and fog began to set in. It was one of the toughest driving challenge that I had ever faced, but I suppose this is regarded as "nothing" for the locals. We arrived safely in Napier at 7.30pm.
