| 1206856 | 2011-06-04 03:59:00 | One dead and one partial amputation of both legs. Nasty. Reportedly they knew of the gas main and it was supposed to be OFF. Speculation, but perhaps only one end of the gas line was isolated, or perhaps it was of sufficiently large calibre to have held a lot of gas. The report says that they can't reach the site of the blast, so it suggests this tunnell had some significant length or depth to it - which would have facilitated the build-up of the right gas/O2 mix. Terrible price to pay for a water main. |
