2011-10-05 05:29:00 | Hi pressf1 Is anyone succesfully running BOINC Client under Linux. Which BOINC version are you using? Version 6.12.22 doesn't run under Ubuntu 11.04. Would the type of distro matter? Cheers

2011-10-05 05:57:00 | Correction- I'm running version 6.10.58 | benZ (16564) | |
2011-10-05 07:03:00 | Don't install random stuff downloaded from websites. Use the package manager to install from the repo. aptitude install boinc-client boinc-manager

2011-10-05 09:44:00 | If it's from the official repo, I would expect it to work, but then you are running ubuntu... fresh breakage every six months! You could try the version from here (launchpad.net)

2011-10-05 19:03:00 | You could argue launchpad is worse than the official repos. You're contradicting yourself mate, coz you say "Don't install random stuff downloaded from websites.", yet suggest a 3rd party repository?! benZ: Are you running the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Ubuntu? What happens when you run the .sh file?

You're contradicting yourself mate,.. and yes I am :) coz you say "Don't install random stuff downloaded from websites.", yet suggest a 3rd party repository?!Well he's already running a broken ubuntu, (so security doesn't seem to be a priority :devil ), seems capable of reinstalling if required, and doesn't post any troubleshooting info other than "it doesn't run". benZ: Are you running the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Ubuntu? What happens when you run the .sh file? |

2011-10-08 06:14:00 | Installed OpenSUSE 11.4 (32bit i586). BOINC from OpenSUSE repo doesn't work but latest version (6.10.58 from sh file) does BOINC client seems to take very little CPU time (tho I know it's working) Thanks for suggestions
