1235240 2011-10-03 10:07:00 Hi,
I set my video surveilance system using the Dyndns some months ago and now I want to use it, the remote viewing doesn't work.
I had it going after a battle with it and now I can't remember how or what could have changed.
My PC at home only goes to routerpage. I had a friend try to access but it said page not available (or similar).
The DVR is H.264DRV client and would be Chinese made. I have it connect to a Thomson router from Telecom.
I refreshed the Dyndns after reading that the service expires after a month, renaming the address.
It has a static address of 192.168.1.66
Web port 80
Media port 9000
CMD port 8000
What could have changed?
Sadly I only have about 24hrs or so to fix before I go on holiday.
Can anyone through some light onto this?
Thanks

1235241 2011-10-03 10:33:00 I hear this could be a loopback error?
I have ports forwarded and dynamic dns has updated successfully in the router.
I can ping the DVR and also ping my IP address and hostname.
When I ping the hostname, it also references the IP address in brackets

1235242 2011-10-03 11:35:00 Can you connect to it locally? (i.e. by LOCAL ip or hostname) fred_fish (15241)
1235243 2011-10-03 11:52:00 Can you connect to it locally? (i.e. by LOCAL ip or hostname)
.. lets run through some things

DVR IP in IE address bar.... no response
Ping DVR IP..... yes
Ping IP ..... yes, (as reported to be by http://www.whatsmyip.org/)
Ping hostname.... yes
Hostname as per Dynamic DNS in router..... comes up with router main page
Connect to DVR via software on my Local PC.... yes
Connect to DVR via software on a 2nd PC.... yes

I hope this answers the query. Should I be able to get a response from IE8 address bar when entering the DVR IP ?

Thanks

1235244 2011-10-03 12:29:00 .. lets run through some things

DVR IP in IE address bar.... no response
Ping DVR IP..... yes <-- Presumably 192.168.1.66?
Ping IP ..... yes, (as reported to be by http://www.whatsmyip.org/)
Ping hostname.... yes
Hostname as per Dynamic DNS in router..... comes up with router main page <-- Expected from inside LAN
Connect to DVR via software on my Local PC.... yes
Connect to DVR via software on a 2nd PC.... yes <-- Good, at least something is working :)

I hope this answers the query. Should I be able to get a response from IE8 address bar when entering the DVR IP ?

ThanksNo idea. Is it supposed to provide a webpage? On port 80? Is there settings in the software to configure it?

1235245 2011-10-03 17:51:00 Ping DVR IP..... yes <-- Presumably 192.168.1.66?........ Yes

Hostname as per Dynamic DNS in router..... comes up with router main page <-- Expected from inside LAN Ok, am 98% sure it work via dyndns even inside lan though have read where others have experienced not working inside lan but remotely working OK.

Connect to DVR via software on a 2nd PC.... yes <-- Good, at least something is working Yep, for sure, that's been steady for a good few months too.

Is it supposed to provide a webpage? On port 80? Is there settings in the software to configure it? Port 80 was the one used and working ok before. It's supposed to access my DVR interface and looks virtually identical to accessing via the PC installed software. Yes, there are settings in the software under heading DDNS: Type= static, IP 192.168.1.66, Netmask= 255.255.255.0, Gateway= 192.169.1.254, Prefered DNS= 168.95.1.1, Spare DNS- 168.95.192.1, Mode= VBR, Internet= 1152K, Mobile port= 15961, Web port= 80, Media port= 9000, CMD Port= 8000

1235246 2011-10-03 18:53:00 When I try to connect to https, it comes up with "There is a problem with this websites' security certificate". If I click to "continue to website (not recommended)", it displays my modem router main page. At this point it used to ask for install of an activeX control, if I remember rightly. There's no such current activeX installed nor does it ask for one.

Frustrating is the fact that all this was working well just a few months ago...

1235247 2011-10-03 20:58:00 a few things to look at/try
there may be a issue with IE8 or IE9 & the DVR software ??
Ive seen some software just not work with IE7,8,9 etc .
temporarily disable Win Firewalls when trying to get this all working

for remote access from outside of lan
router will need port forwarding enabled, so it redirects to the DVR instead of getting the router menu.
router may have reset itself ??

some routers (ie telecom freebies) just dont work that well-too hard to configure- for this sort of use.

1235248 2011-10-03 21:04:00 Another piece of the puzzle is that within the DVR Client software settings for network and DDNS, I find I can't edit the web port.
Indeed when I try any change to the page, it responds with "save failed".
I've updated to the latest OCX version 1.0.1.8 but the "save failed", accompanied by the annoying windows error sound persists.
Could it be corrupted in some way? Or is port 80 the only one it can use? It appears as though it should be editable.
I'm waiting for a call from the DVR supplier, hoping he can throw some light onto this.
I thought about uninstalling the software and re-installing, though a fair bit of work with all the settings.
Thanks for viewing, I've 20hours left to solve it before I depart. Here's hoping...

1235249 2011-10-03 21:08:00 Would you like some help remotely?
If you could log me in to your system I can have a look for you.

We have some remote access software I can get you to run from your end to give me access.
