1234889 2011-10-01 20:32:00 Hey hello, could you help me out?
We got this pc yesterday and my son loves it, however he would like to play the Lego on-line game. I says the video card does not support it, so I am trying to find a video card on-line.
Would you know what kind of card I need? The amount of MB and, would this card fit/compatible etc, sorry am not that computer literate with video cards

Unfortunately this PC has neither an AGP slot nor a PCIe slot, so you'll have to hunt around for a PCI graphics card (which are rare-ish).

1234891 2011-10-01 20:38:00 lol...ok! But what can it handle??? I mean MB like 256MB or 512MB? mark1978 (13845)
1234892 2011-10-01 20:43:00 Hmmmmmmm you have got ajob ahead of you.

Assuming This is the same one (support.dell.com) the Motherboard has intergrated graphics.

The downside, going by the motherboard layout ( see attached Pic) it doesn't actually have a dedicated Graphic card slot, not even a AGP :(

You would need a PCI graphic Card, and they are not available these days, maybe you can pick one up from Trademe or someone may have one about.

I know I have a couple someplace in the workshop.

Edited;
lol...ok! But what can it handle??? I mean MB like 256MB or 512MB? Read the link I posted, the board will take up to 2GB of RAM ( under technical Spec's)

Edit 2: just be careful if looking on Trade me, some sellers dont know the difference between a PCI and PCI-E card :groan:

1234895 2011-10-01 22:09:00 Ascent list just three here (www.ascent.co.nz). They may have brought them in themselves , Normally most of the suppliers in NZ have troubles getting AGP, let along PCI :) wainuitech (129)

If this is the game you're talking about, your computer
en.wikipedia.org
may not be able to run it very well even with a PCI video card, just saying :)

The solitary PCI card listed on that page happens to be the one Ascent sells :p

1234898 2011-10-02 01:34:00 Throw it away. Buy a computer capable of gaming.
For that it must have a motherboard with a PCI-E slot, forget the rest - too old to bother. Once he's had one game, he;ll want another.

And make sure it has something reasonable. See here for graphics card rankings:
www.tomshardware.com

You can stick with the entry-level cause of the type he's playing but the GRAPHICS is the single most important part of a computer for gaming. Too many people don't do their research first and expect miracles later.
