1208563 2011-06-12 20:30:00 Really sorry to hear that. I do hope the car turns up eventually. Renmoo (66)
1208564 2011-06-13 01:30:00 Somehow I doubt that I'll see it down here. Unfortunately cars around that time are painfully easy to steal.

Only real way to lock down those cars is with an immobilizer, or, if you're cheap like me, pull the ECU fuse out.

SMS-based GPS trackers are out there for under a couple hundred bucks, a wise investment IMO.

Hopefully you get it back (or a nice fat insurance payout).

1208565 2011-06-14 05:36:00 SMS-based GPS trackers are out there for under a couple hundred bucks, a wise investment IMO.Mmm, once I have a car again I'm planning to embed a cheap smartphone under the dash.

That way I'll be able to find it even if it's parked somewhere that prevents the GPS from figuring out where it is, provided there's a WiFi network nearby, and even if there isn't it can at least tell me the area based on nearby cell towers.

Unfortunately I didn't think to do this before it was stolen...

A metal shed, without windows, may be all that needed to stop any of that working (faraday shield). Even immobilisers wont stop it being towed to the chop shop.
Better than nothing admittedly. But if its a car they want, they will get it.
I used to own the more commonly stolen cars, guess I was just lucky not to lose mine as well.

Good luck with the hunt though.

Ive Been watching too much Crimewatch type TV ?? or just enough ??

1208568 2011-06-15 04:37:00 True 1101, i have heard of cars stolen from locked sheds that have locked cars in front of them, the locked cars moved and put back as if they were never touched.
If they want it it will be gone

Any news Erayd??

1208571 2011-06-15 06:02:00 Well it doesn't have much in the way of value (no offense) so i'd say it was kids yeah. Alex B (15479)

Better than nothing admittedly. But if its a car they want, they will get it.Yep, but you'd still be able to see where it was before they parked it in the shed, which would make it very easy to find - so still a very worthwhile measure to take.

Good luck with the hunt though. Thanks :D.

Any news Erayd??None yet sadly, but I'm still hoping.

Hmmm 93 Honda Civic...I reckon they did you a favour there Erayd!I disagree; quite apart from being my freaking car they took (which means a heaping pile of hassle), it's in great nick and very reliable - I'd take my Civic anyday over an awful lot of other options.

Well it doesn't have much in the way of value (no offense) so i'd say it was kids yeah. It's worth about $5,000, and had about $1,500 of stuff in the boot - $6.5k might be trivial for you, but I can assure you that for most people, that hurts!

Thankfully both the car and its contents are fully insured.
