1207893 2011-06-09 00:08:00 I got this from Wikipedia which probably sums things up.

Māori academic Dr Ranginui Walker, in a detailed letter to the Waikato Times, said that in the modern age a taniwha was the manifestation of a coping mechanism for some Māori. It did not mean there actually was a creature lurking in the water, it was just their way of indicating they were troubled by some incident or event.

So in other words, they don't want the CBD rail loop, just like the Government

1207896 2011-06-09 00:34:00 Government has been given an easy out, saying we dont cant afford the millions of koha required to build the loop. prefect (6291)
1207897 2011-06-09 00:47:00 Hey, it is only for Auckland, isn't it?

Forget it then. What a bloody waste of time and materials :D :D

1207898 2011-06-09 00:57:00 Once again this country is going to be ransomed by a few losers :(

When is the Government (both National and Local) going to wake up to all this BS and tell the local "believers" to come up with the proof or else FO!!

Couldn't agree more.

Imagine this: You call a 1-1-1 dispatcher and say, "Oh yea hi there, I think there may be a mystical creature in my house, can you send the cops round to save me?"

You would probably get charged with whatever they charge you with for mis-using an emergency service - yet this bollox happens in another context... :illogical:mad:

1207900 2011-06-09 01:19:00 Why not. We have special laws & holidays covering European based non-existent beings
usual double standards here

I'd be happy if this stops the wasted $$ being poured into a new PASSENGER rail systems.
Just stick everyone on buses, they are cheaper to buy & can use existing roads.
Perhaps there was a good reason all the old inner city tram line were pulled up
not that long ago.

Perhaps, but it seems you've got it backwards about which way the double standards are always forced to favour.
