1207832 2011-06-08 10:47:00 i started studyin for my diploma in computing and i.t. at the start of this year and am a little puzzled by the following query. i have just signed up for a login and pass for isky (slowest loading website ever!!!) when it finally loads up i find it cool to use as i run my computer through my 42inch in the lounge. now im with woosh right (also a sh*t isp...) but the cool thing is that any isky i watch doesnt come off my data cap. so getting to the point i just wanna know how my isp knows how to differentiate the traffic that comes to me from isky as compared to the rest of my internet traffic. im assuming they must know how to tell the difference if the data from isky doesnt come off my data cap right? so is this done by them simply knowing what i.p isky has and just letting that data flow on to me or does my i.s.p have seperate bandwith set aside for them??? sorry if any of this doesnt make sense like i said im only in my first six months of the computing world and there are some things i have yet to grasp the concept of. thanks for reading my rant lol looking forward to someone satisfying my curiosity!! symbian (16067)
1207833 2011-06-08 11:02:00 No disrespect but posting a block of text without capitalisation and paragraphs isn't going to win any friends...or much help. I have no idea what you are asking. Winston001 (3612)

1207835 2011-06-08 11:12:00 They probably just don't count data being sent from isky servers, something simple like a whitelist.. just a guess... it wont be packet inspection or anything like that though Netsukeninja (13296)
1207836 2011-06-08 11:15:00 At a guess, woosh probably just has a whitelist of sites that don't add to your data cap.

Edit, looks like I was beaten to the punch.

1207837 2011-06-08 11:23:00 I got a flyer in the mail about a woosh promotion and that you get unlimited access to iSky. They probably cap the speed of that site. sahilcc7 (15483)
1207838 2011-06-08 14:17:00 Use of the national pipes is pretty cheap, so I think it is entirely possible that woosh can offer that service, orcon does it aswell. Netsukeninja (13296)
1207839 2011-06-08 14:29:00 Hi Symbian

Don't know how they do it exactly but it is part of the contract between the various Isp's and Sky. Heard a Dude from Telecom talking about it on Nation Radio. Seems this is a bit of a sticking point between them and Sky. Decison yet to be made.

How do you manage to get through school without learning any English?

Your - you're
Shouldn't of - shouldn't have
Studyin - studying

And sentences contain capital letters too.
